We went here for “date nite” Husband had Cheddar bacon burger w/steak fries. I had mushroom swiss burger w/skinny fries. I not to keen on “well done” where you were not asked on how you want it done! Well it is!! Only problem I had was fork enroute to mouth with food still on my plate!! Argggg could she take my plate???? What, excuse me, like I’m still eating, like NOT done, Ya I was DONE after that!! Check please!! Which took forever to get!!

I visited Two Guys Grill at Wrightsville Beach for an early dinner on Saturday evening. Two Guys Grill has three locations; Wrightsville Beach, Monkey Junction and the newest addition on Wrightsville Ave. and S. College Roads. This is tavern food with a twist.

First, I impressed by the fact that they carry BOTH Coke and Pepsi products. That was a first for me. I imagine they are best known for their burgers. Hand made fresh to order the burgers are clearly quality products and they were cooked and prepared to perfection.

My problem in general with North & South Carolina is that they cook all the burgers well done. I keep forgetting that. So consider I’m jaded. I just can’t get my lips around a well done burger.

Despite that hurdle, the burger was great. The bun was soft and fresh and tasty without being ‘too much bun’. There is definitely a ratio of bun to burger and this was just right. The cheese was two slices and appeared to be fresh deli style. What I liked best about Two Guys Grill is that pride themselves on cooking what you want, to your specifications. That is what sets them apart. For example, with your burger you can get skinny fries, fat (steak) fries and Sweet Potato Fries with a special sauce we were told was a contribution from a previous employee. Or you can substitute a salad or upgrade to a Caesar salad. My dining companion had the smothered chicken sandwich for the second time visiting, so you know it’s good. She had the sweet potato fries with special cinnamon honey sauce and I had the steak fries. I saw a cheese steak go by and it looked good. Two Guys Grill also serves beer.

Not only was the food good, but you also get to play “The Game”. A board game I have never seen anywhere else that is simple and even teaches math skills to children. Roll two dice in a tray (keeps things where they belong) and turn over wooden flaps to cover the numbers to win. Our waiter was kind enough to sit down at the table with us and show us how it’s done. A fun strategy game to place while you are waiting on your custom order. “The game” is for sale at the gift shop along with bargain Tees.
